Affliction and Simple Hope

May 16, 2018

Desert-Flowers

Weep. Weep loudly. Weep loudly to your God. For there will come a day when you shall weep no more, Oh Zion. Oh dear child of the Most High King…

“He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. Though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.” – Isaiah 30:20

Simple Hope

The bread of adversity has been taken
The water of affliction consumed,
Now I weep and sign no more
For the flower in the desert has bloomed.

This is cause for singing
This is cause for rejoicing
When the children of God walk the way
With all creation we lift our voices,
Where in His city we never stray.

Everlasting joy shall come
God’s mercy will be made sight
We will see the beauty of our God,
When our eyes will behold His light.

Until then dear children
Be strong and do not fear!
Behold, your God will come,
He will save you and wipe away your tears.

The eyes of the blind will be opened
To see His tender face,
The ears of the deaf unstopped
To hear “Well done on your race!”

This is cause for singing
This is cause for life,
Celebrating God’s ransomed homecomings
When we dwell with Him on high.

“For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, ‘In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength”.  -Isaiah 30:15

“And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.”  -Isaiah 32:17
